🏒 NHL Season Opens September 29

The NHL 2026–27 season begins Monday September 29 with a tripleheader on ESPN — the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes raising their banner against Florida, followed by the Rangers visiting Boston, followed by the Blackhawks at Vegas.

For Long Island, the real opener is the night after. The New York Islanders — under new head coach Peter DeBoer and with franchise cornerstone Matthew Schaefer in the lineup — open their season Wednesday September 30 in Toronto at 7:30 PM ET. The Islanders home opener is Saturday October 3 vs the New Jersey Devils at UBS Arena.

The East Coast's largest waterfront festival returns to Oyster Bay on Saturday October 17 and Sunday October 18. Up to 200,000 people will pack Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, the beach, and Audrey Avenue for two days of oyster eating contests, amusement rides, live music, arts and crafts, and everything that makes Oyster Bay the most beloved village on the North Shore.

And Oyster Bay Brewing Company is the official beer garden for the entire weekend. When 200,000 people come to Oyster Bay, they're coming to our block. We'll be pouring all weekend long — and we'll have more details on programming, specials, and what to expect as the date approaches.
